Returns & Shipping

Do you accept returns?

Sales are final. Please contact us at contact@designyardsale.org if the item arrives damaged, and we will coordinate with you to file for an insurance claim with the shipping company.

What if I am unhappy with my purchase?

Items are sold ‘as is’. Please contact us at contact@designyardsale.org if you need specific assistance.

How long will it take for my purchase to ship?

Processing time may take up to 2 weeks as we need to coordinate with the designer of your item. Once your package ships we will send you a notification email. Please allow for additional time for your item to arrive. We are a very small team of students, so we appreciate your patience! If you have any questions, please contact us at contact@designyardsale.org

Does Design Yard Sale ship internationally?

Yes! We offer worldwide shipping at designyardsale.org. Shipping rates vary depending on the destination country and all customers are responsible for any additional tax and duties that may apply. Please contact us at contact@designyardsale.org for special arrangements.

What happens to the shipping fee?

Due the limited capacity of our small team, we are charging a flat-rate for shipping in order to keep the process cleaner. In most cases, the shipping fee barely covers the cost. If the shipping fee is more than the cost, we will pay the leftover forward. If the designers choose to cover shipping as an in-kind donation, we will also donate the shipping fee forward to the designated charities.

Proceeds

What is defined as proceeds for Design Yard Sale? What is meant by ‘net proceeds’?

We define proceeds as the amount of cash received from the sale after paying for expenses, fees and taxes. The full price of your purchased item, minus transaction, printing, operating cost, and any pertaining cost, will be donated to the Bail Project and Colloqate Design. Stripe, our payment method, will deduct 2.9% plus 30 cents per transaction. Printing costs vary depending on the print size and medium. Operating costs include website hosting, website plugins and other essential services for the operation of this event. Shipping costs, if any, will be itemized separately on the order confirmation email. We do not personally receive any monetary compensation for organizing and operating Design Yard Sale.

Charitable status

Is Design Yard Sale a registered charity?

Design Yard Sale Inc. is a registered nonprofit corporation in the state of Massachusetts, but is not a 501(c)(3) entity. The Architectural League of New York, a charitable corporation tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, acts as our fiscal sponsor.

Is my purchase tax-deductible?

Please consult with your tax advisor on charitable giving and tax implications of the item purchased. 

Is my design donation tax-deductible?

Can I get a receipt for my design donation?

Yes, we will provide a written acknowledgement of receipt of your donation. Please note that we are unable to provide a fair market value estimate as we do not have the capacity and expertise to evaluate design work.
